Attorney in Motion
A homicide detective I knew came in the front door and stopped in the archway to the living room.
“Robin Starling,” he said, sounding surprised.
I looked up. “Hi, Jordan.”
“Not a good sign,” he said. “Murder cases becoming your specialty?”
“Let’s hope not.” It was, I reflected, the second murder scene at which he’d found me.
My client said, “This wasn’t murder, though. It was suicide, wasn’t it?”
“Doubtful,” Jordan said.
“Why do you say that?” I asked.
The corner of Jordan’s mouth lifted. “It’s what I always say.”
“So you don’t have any specific reasons for thinking it wasn’t suicide?”
“That’s not what I said.” He came into the living room and sat in a large square chair, pushing the ottoman out of the way with his foot. “Where is Melissa Butler? I’d like to talk to her.”
They all looked at me. “She’s driving around in my car,” I said lamely.
“Just driving around, or is she going somewhere?”
“I don’t know.”
“Look,” Jordan said. “This woman saw the murderer. You can’t just bury her.”
“I didn’t bury her.”
“But you sent her off in your car.”
“No, I didn’t.”
He shifted in the chair. “You see, the problem is I know you, Robin. You do whatever the hell you want, and you depend on constant motion to stay out of trouble.”
Robin Starling displays both the reckless initiative of Stephanie Plum and the legal acumen of Perry Mason, and even her friends know it. When Robin's efforts to acquit her clients begin to involve her roommate, Brooke Marshall, Brooke asks, “This isn’t going to get me in trouble, is it?”
“I hope not.”
“Great.”
“If I get you in, I’ll get you out again.”
She gave me a look.
“Are you okay with that?”
“You’re giving me a recipe for getting arrested. Of course I’m not okay with it.”
Okay or not, Robin can be persuasive. Before long, everyone she knows is involved in juggling evidence. Robin Starling claims it’s an occupational hazard, but the district attorney thinks it’s a violation of the Rules of Professional Conduct—and this time, he thinks he can prove it…
Juggling Evidence, a clean, PG-13 style mystery, is Book 2 in the Robin Starling legal thriller series. The tone is light, and the action builds to one of the most dramatic courtroom finishes you'll ever read.
The other courtroom mysteries in the series are
- Trial by Ambush, Robin's first criminal case, a courtroom mystery that has her defending the boyfriend she caught cheating on her with the murder victim on the very night of the murder.
- Dog Law, the third lawyer thriller in the series, which Robin survives with an assist from her new pup and her overweight boyfriend.
- Laughing Heirs, book 4 in the series of lawyer mysteries, in which the line between accidental death and first-degree murder is razor thin.
The lawyer novels are some of the top legal thrillers on the market, fun, engaging, and relentlessly readable, written by a former trial lawyer whose love of courtroom thrillers led him into the legal profession in the first place.
Juggling Evidence A Robin Starling Courtroom Mystery edition by Michael Monhollon Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
This guy has a future in writing. The plot is very close to being absolutely plausable; if it falls short at all, it's close enough. And the characters likewise. And there is a subtle sense of humor lurking in his work. As well done as this book is, in my view it is underpriced, which is a breath of fresh air when one considers the recent dramatic inflation in the works of most of the better known fiction writers. And of course, as far as the "better known" writers are concerned, more power to those among them who have marketable talent. If they can get today's fourteen and fifteen dollar prices, they certainly have earned them. Writing is hard work, and I fear very often grossly under appreciated. When one considers the magnitude of the time and effort involved in getting a book finished and off to market, as contrasted with how quickly it can be devoured by the reader, there is a disconnect somewhere in the process.

Juggling Evidence A Robin Starling Courtroom Mystery edition by Michael Monhollon Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
Fun storyline. Plausible plot. Likable characters. Short chapters work while waiting in airports! Escaping reality for good clean fun reading is occasionally good for the soul.
I enjoyed this book very much and I am looking forward to reading more of Robin Starling's mysteries. A very interesting ending.
I read this novel out of sequence. It's clever and interesting. It is not "great literature", but I'm not one to pour over Dickens or Plato; so I liked it. The character Robin Starling is larger than life, perhaps a tiny bit too large for life; but that's part of the charm. It's escape reading, not the history of the Crimean Wars. I've started "Trial by Ambush". More Starling novels, please?
I am a slow reader but finished this faster than any other book recently despite having various other commitments to attend to. The storyline was novel and not confused by any unnecessary digressions or padding.
This intriguing tale of a lawyer with a social conscience and excellent survival instincts has more twists and turns than your usual fictional lawyer, so beloved (but frequently despised) of American fiction.
No real life trial lawyer that I know of could hope to compete with her extraordinarily beguiling romp through the legal process and retain some shards of credibility.
Juggling Evidence (A Robin Starling Legal Thriller)
I read my first Robin Starling book two days ago. I finished my third last night. Very compulsive reading. A mix of amusing quips, interesting court tactics and quickfire surprises wouldn't let me put the book down. Now starting Book four.
I enjoy all of the Robin Starling books and look eagerly forward to the 4th. No horrendous gratuitous violence but a good story and in-dispersed with normal life style of the charming heroine.
Reading as I do late at night - I find all Michael Monhollon's legal tales - unput downable. However i do not fall asleep and have disturbed dreams.
I highly recommend this book to all females who love reading late at night.
